It's Been ONE WEEK

OMG!!!!  It have been one week since I got banded.  ONE WEEK!!!  WOW!!!

I must say that all is well.  I have graduated to eating mashed potatoes and grits.

Life is good.  I go for my follow up tomorrow.  I am expecting great news.

I have not been out the house yet so tomorrow is going to be such a sweet pleasure.  Maybe I'll go to the movies to check out Alex Cross while I am at it.  Been cooped up too long.  But I did get some house cleaning done with the help of my mother.

2nd Day After Surgery

This is me and my fabulous Mother the day of the surgery at 7 AM.  I was already registered and we were just chillin watching some show on Fox.  Im usually not up this time of morning so I have no idea what is on tv.

This is me all changed and ready to go.  I am still so excited.  Just waiting for them to wheel me to the OR.

Well time passed and I went to the OR.  I walked from the bed to the OR table.  They were playing "My Girl" so of course I had to get my little dance step before I got situated.  I believe in having fun most of the time.....

So they situated me and strapped me on the table so that when they tilted it I wouldn't fall (good idea).  All was well.  I got some oxygen and then I went off on a nice sleep.  I woke up about an hour and half later with the leg cuffs and the arm cuffs for blood pressure inflating and deflating.  I was still happy.  They told me to take deep breathes and that all went well.  Music to my ears.

I will say that has taken some getting used to.  My Mom has been great helping me.  I have loaded up on Mojitos courtesy of Crystal Light, Jell-O, Green Tea and Homemade Chicken Broth.  Greg went to GNC for my Isopure protein drinks.  Gotta love him.

I am moving around.  Today was better than yesterday.  Oh and did I say I lost 13 lbs. AWESOME!!!!

Almost There

Just came back from Bible Study.  My Pastor prayed a mighty prayer.  I expect nothing but a speedy recovery.

I had some lemon lime jello for dinner tonight.  It was mighty tasty.

Well, let me get prepared.

The Day Before Sugery continues.......

I'm excited.  Got call today for the time of my surgery....9AM tomorrow.

I'm enjoying my clear liquid diet.  I also took my pre-op pill during lunch time.

My boyfriend Greg asked me what I am going to look like.  Too funny.  I will still be Sherri but I am excited to meet her too.  :-)

Dr. Nusbaum so far has been great.  I just got the thumbs up from two physicians that I work for.  So that is a plus.

Till we post again....

The Day Before Surgery

Sooooooooo today is the day before surgery.  I am super excited but also super nervous.  I want to make sure I do it "right". Ya know?  I have such an awesome support system.

My Mom and I went to OutBack Steakhouse last night.  I chose there because I hear that steak is the last thing to be introduced back in my diet.  So I had a prime rib classic style - seasoned and seared.  It was My God Good.

Today is the clear liquid day.  I am actually fine with that as I have been following my church's fast this month.  We fast from 6am til 6pm daily.  During that time I only have decaf tea with no sweetners added.  This surgery came in the perfect month as I am prepared mentally, physically and emotionally.

Today is also my last day at work until after the surgery.  Not sure how long I will be out.  I am an accountant who sits behind a desk and moves only to go to the bathroom or kitchen.  I don't have a high risk job.  LOL!!!

I will be taking pictures tonight for my before album.

Til we post again.

Beginning Stages

Hi All!
I am very new to this way of life.  Blogging has always been interesting to me.  Not sure how good I will be at it but I am going to try.
I wanted to share my journey with getting the gastric band surgery.  Hopefully I help someone in the process.  If not I am an only child so I don't mind talking to myself.  LOL!!!
As of today I have completed all but one of my pre-op requirements.  I have done the endoscopy, the blood work up and the venous doppler of both legs.  Now I just have to complete the psych evaluation.  This is going to be interesting.  I have it scheduled for August 6th.  After that I am on my way.
Just a side bar - I didn't come to this conclusion lightly.  I have been going back and forth about this for over ten years.  I don't like being the first to do something so I wait and research and talk to people.  I have lost and gain weight my entire life.  And now I am excited about this next phase.
So stick around as I share my life as open and honest as I can be.

Thanks in advance,

Sherri
